The Danville Police Department is mourning the loss of a longtime member of the police force. In a Facebook post on Tuesday the department announced the death of retired Lieutenant Scott A. Eanes.

Eanes had a 33 year career in law enforcement. The department said that he will be remembered for his long and dedicated career not only to the department, but for the entire community.

Blairs Fire and Rescue said in a Facebook post that Eanes died at 11:49 pm on Monday. Eanes was inspired to volunteer by his father at a young age. He joined the Danville Life Saving Crew when he was 19 years old and served there from 1989-1998.

Eanes was a member of Blairs Fire and Rescue from 2014-2023 as a Firefighter and an Emergency Medical Technician.
