A Sutherlin woman was killed and her husband was injured during a shooting in Charlotte, NC on Tuesday night. According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, 36-year-old Brandy Cox was killed in the shooting and 40-year-old James Cox was taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds. A suspect has been identified and taken into custody.
The shooting occurred at 4020 Meadowridge Drive in Charlotte at 9:16 pm. Brandy Cox was found dead at the scene.
According to WSOC-TV, a man who lived at the home had been named in a Facebook post earlier this week alleging that he had sexually assaulted a girl in Virginia. WSOC-TV’s Genevieve Curtis spoke with friends of the man who said that people related to the girl had traveled from Virginia to confront him about the alleged assault.
