Yesterday, as part of the 2024 countywide reassessment project, Pearson’s Appraisal Services, Inc. mailed letters to property owners in Pittsylvania County who participated in the informal appeals process. Along with indicating the results of the informal appeal, the letters also provide further information about the process to appeal to the Board of Equalization.
The following is an excerpt from the letters mailed:
You may appeal our [Pearson’s] findings to the Board of Equalization (BOE), by calling (434) 432-7726 after February 1, 2024. For more information regarding the BOE appeal process or to make an appointment with the Board of Equalization, please call (434) 432-7726, or email to BOE@pittgov.org.
You have the right under §58.1-3331 to review and obtain copies of all the assessment records pertaining to the assessing officer’s determination of fair market value of such real property.
