A Greensboro Police Officer that was shot and killed on December 30 will be laid to rest today. Sergeant Philip Dale Nix served the Greensboro Police Department for 23 years.

Nix was reportedly shot and killed when he confronted three people attempting to steal beer from the Sheetz gas station on Sandy Ridge Road. The three suspects have been arrested.

The funeral will be held at Westover Church on Muirs Chapel Road at 2 pm. The church can hold 3,500 people and overflow seating will be made available. The service will also be live streamed on the Westover Church website.
