A Martinsville juvenile has been charged with attempted murder of a law enforcement officer and several other charges. According to BTW 21, officers responded to a domestic disturbance call on Sunday afternoon.
The dispute was between the juvenile and his mother. During the dispute the juvenile tried to leave in the family’s Nissan Sedan.
The juvenile then deliberately hit an officer head on. He then fled the scene and was caught a short time later. The officer was taken to the hospital for injuries.
The juvenile is facing charges of attempted murder of a law enforcement officer, reckless driving, felony hit and run, driving without a license, felony strangulation of a family member, assault and battery of a family member, malicious wounding, larceny of a vehicle, and providing a fake ID to avoid prosecution.
Virginia State Police are investigating the matter. The juvenile is being held at a juvenile detention center and the commonwealth attorney’s office is attempting to try the juvenile as an adult
