The Henry County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating after a dog was abandoned in a porta-potty. On January 25 at approximately 9:50 am, the Martinsville/Henry County 911 Center received a call about a dog that was abandoned at Jaycee Park located at 475 Parkwood Ct. in Collinsville.

The caller stated that a tan and black colored dog was left in a porta-potty and was in poor health condition. According to the caller a traffic cone was left in front of the door to the porta-potty, preventing the dog from getting out.

A deputy with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control Division responded and located the dog inside the porta-potty. The dog was in very bad health. The animal control deputy immediately took the dog to a local veterinarian clinic.

Due to the dog’s poor health conditions, it had to be humanely euthanized.  The Henry County Sheriff’s Office is seeking help from the public to obtain information on who may have abandoned the dog at the park.
