The Danville Dairy Daddies have named Alex Moore as the team’s first manager. After retiring from his playing career in 2016, Moore dipped his toe into the coaching realm through strength training and wellness.
Moore then returned to school and received his Bachelor of Science in Meteorology from University of North Carolina-Charlotte. He now looks to re-enter the baseball world by leading us into the new age of Danville baseball.
“I’m excited for this summer,” said Dairy Daddies’ skipper, Alex Moore. “It’s going to be a fun one for all the players and fans in Danville.” Excited to join the team and unique brand, Moore offers a cow pun of his own, “It’s going to be legen-wait for it-Dairy.”
Prior to taking his first steps into coaching, Moore touted an impressive career at Lee University before quickly being drafted in the 28th-round in the 2013 MLB Amateur Draft by the Milwaukee Brewers. Moore pitched four years in the Milwaukee farm system, spending time with the Arizona League Brewers.
After his time in the Arizona League, Moore was promoted to Brevard County Manatees where he would finish his affiliated career. Shortly after, he joined the Joliet Slammers of the independent Frontier League, where he would end his professional career.
Throughout his playing days, Moore fully immersed himself in both the on-field and front office work priming him to one-day lead his own team.
“We fully believe and stand behind Alex,” said Assistant General Manager of Baseball Operations, Jacob Lemanowicz. “He has been instrumental in our recruiting efforts providing contacts and creating relationships that otherwise would not have been possible. His experience and connections will provide an invaluable asset for our Dairy Daddies’ players for this summer and beyond.”
While our lights shine bright at the ballpark, Moore is no stranger to the spotlight. After his playing career, Moore utilized his meteorology degree to become the on-air meteorologist for KFXK Fox 51 and KETK NBC. On top of giving forecasts, he has had various roles in large-budget movies and television shows through Central Casting.
